The Joys of Boat Diving

As well as shore diving we also dive from boats. These are quite small boats, without dive facilities such as tank storage and seats!. You may also be the boat marshall which is a nice change. You help everyone kit up and lift the tanks into and out of the boat. Once everyone is in, you chill with the boat captain and have a chat and watch the bubbles.
The fish is a Honeycomb Grouper.

When you are boat marshall you must remember your hat and have plenty of sunscreen because the temperature can be very hot. Last time it was 32C, and with no breeze it is very hot. I have bought a small cool box which I fIll with ice plus a cold pack, I then have couple of cans of diet coke. The boat captain and I have a can and complain about the price of goods on the island and the absence of grandchildren.

You have to help everyone kit up and then its a count down to the backward roll. I assume the boat is in reverse so no-one gets chopped up by the prop!

Getting every one back in is a bit of a palaver. You have to get the weights and tanks in. Every one then fins in, apart from Rhonda and I, we have the ladder shipped and often I just de-fin and go up the ladder in full kit. As Tai our dive master says "PADI 5* resort!!!". When the delayed surface marker buoys go up, you know it's only about 5 minutes before the divers surface.
