In September we thought we would try and visit Malta for some scuba diving. The only flight there convenient for us was a Ryanair flight from Stansted. After jumping through all the hoops we arrived in St Pauls Bay, not the most picturesque or tranquil part of Malta but convenient to "Malta Aqua" our dive shop.
We dived most mornings, driving to different parts of the coastline, diving wrecks, pinnacles and caves. We also took a day off and visited Valetta, an amazing historic port. It was all very good value without the usual crowds.
Dived HMS Maori which was sunk in Valetta harbour itself. Also dived Um el Faroud a tanker sunk deliberately as a dive site. Great viz with los of fish including Amber Jacks, Groupers and even sardines. Quite deep at the propeller - 36m. Deepest yet.

Particularly liked Ghar Lapsi an out of the way beach, with bar and restaurant serving mainly the locals. There was a little cave section to dive, great fun.
