Target Fish

There are hundreds if not thousands fish that inhabit the coral reefs around Caqalai and it is not possible to survey all the fish that inhabit the reef. Instead a selective group of species of the same genus are chosen.These are species that are thought to be key fish of a healthy reef.

They form part of the each survey and the data analysed over time is a reasonable indication of which way the reef is going in terms of health. similar surveys are carried out on invertebrates species and the benthic layer ( or as I like to call it the 'trainspotter layer"). The following fish are some of the target species.
The titan trigger fish below is not a target species but is pretty cool!
