First Games Marseille

So, after five days in Fréjus in 30 C heat we caught the train to Marseille and met up with Sophie and Allan. We stayed in their trendy airbnb in what must have been the "hipster" area of Marseille. It was all hot and steamy. We watched the opening match in a bar- France v New Zealand, fortunately France won! Enormous stadium holding 67,000 people. Largest ground in France.
England v Argentina was our Saturday match starting at 9pm. There were a lot of inebriated supporters due to the late start. Not pretty but a win is a win and considering Englands form, we were very pleased. Unfortunately Scotland lost on the Sunday. The Marseille locals loved all the kilts and the bag pipe players
We also met up with Karen and Brian and went for some great food. One restaurant produced it's own wine.
Next weekend we are to Nice for more Rugby.
