Nice

So this weekend we are staying in an airbnb in Nice. The train from Fréjus is only an hour to Nice and our airbnb was very central. Got the tram to the Stade about 50 minutes away on the Saturday to watch Wales v. Portugal. The Nice stade is a much better stadium than Marseille and Wales had a comfortable victory although Portugal held off Wales enough to not be thrashed. On the Sunday we went on a walking tour of Nice which was very informative. I had forgotten Nice was part of the Italian state of Savoy for over 500 years and that they have their own dialect. (A bit like basque)

The old town in Nice is completely different to the new town which is on a grid pattern. Lots of narrow winding street with amazing architecture. Plus some dubious modern art. Apparently the mayor loves it!
Our guide was super informative and it was a great tour. We finished up at the old port: Porte Limpio.
In the evening it was off to watch England v. Japan. Another comfortable victory for England.
