Helsinki

We made it to Helsinki a short 150 miles from Pori. Helsinki is amazing so busy after Norway and Sweden, lots and lots of bars all populated by groups of woman drinking Prosecco! I have never seen so many women drinking in the afternoon. (Outside of Glasgow of course). After arriving we wandered around visiting a design

museum before eating at a restaurant that had a 3 or 5 course menu that the content of which is a surprise. Apparently the place is uber cool if not a little pretentious. Today we did the usual tour of the sites, visiting a church carved into the living rock with a copper dome as a roof. Visited the Lutheran cathedral and the Orthodox cathedral. The railway station was also quite impression, had a walk through several parks and finished off with a boat tour of the harbour. Did not have a clue about Finland before arriving, didn’t even know it’s in the Euro. Definitely a place for a long weekend. The Finns are mad on saunas, apparently there are 3 million in the country. Even their version of the London Eye has a cabin, which is a sauna!! Rhonda was not keen on having a go.
